Stihl Shops Townsville Womens Brolgas Expressions of Interest Open!

The proposed Townsville Womens Brolgas rep program has been announced with support from all the clubs involved at a meeting on Wednesday. The Brolgas womens are slated to travel to Cairns to face an FNQ Invitational team alongside the Mens and Under 19s Brolgas, before flying south to face Brisbane Premier competition in a double header in September. The TDRU and its clubs are now calling for Expressions of Interest from potential players in order to get the program off the ground. Yesterday saw over 60 kids head to Mike Carney Toyota Park for the Under 12 North Queensland trials.  
The kids were dividing into 4 teams before undergoing a number of core skill drill. Following the drills the kids participated in a round robin carnival. The team selected will partake in the Queensland Schools Championships to be held here in Townsville from the 1st - 4th of August. Round 13 lived up to the hype, with all teams putting on a great display of Rugby in order to cement their final four place. In the first game of the weekend, an all country blockbuster between Charters Towers Rugby Union Football Club Inc and the Burdekin Rugby Union Canetoads in Ayr, for the Cane Toads old boys day. Next up at Mike Carney Toyota Park, North Ward Old Boys Rugby Union Club took on the LARCS with both teams hunting for some momentum leading into the final regular rounds of the season. The final game of the weekend saw Brothers Rugby Union Club Townsville clashed with JCU Rugby Union Club who were out to spoil any last hopes of a Brothers finals appearance. Round 14 1st Grade Preview



We now enter week 14 of the Well Hung Glass and Aluminium First Grade competition and it still is very tight for the top four finish. We start off with North Ward taking on the LARC’s and Brothers looking for a double over JCU this season in the First-Grade doubleheader at Mike Carney Toyota Park. We then wrap the week up with a country clash as Burdekin host Charters Towers in Ayr.

A big congratulations to the JCU Student Association (JCU Sport) for another successful Fisher Shield Rugby competition in 2019, well done to everyone who has been down to the Fisher Shield competition games over the past 7 weeks including the Townsville District Rugby Union Referees Association and the JCU Rugby Union Club and all the players, coaches, staff and volunteers! Congratulations also to the winners!
