Zambreros 1st Grade Wrap Up - Round 16

With 5 rounds to go before finals, round 16 of the Zambreros 1st Grade competition produced some fantastic displays of rugby. Two of the three matches were played at Mike Carney Toyota Park, with a home game for Brothers at Ignatius Park College. First up, at Mike Carney Toyota Park was the Burdekin Cane Toads taking on the Charters Towers Bulls, followed by the North Ward Old Boys facing the Ross River Redskins. Over at Ignatius park saw a top of the table clash between the fiery Brothers pack and the 1st grade leaders; the Teachers West Bulldogs.

 

NQ U15s complete their final preparations ahead QRFSU Under 15s State Titles being held in Townsville 

The NQ U15 Boys team are completing their final preparations ahead of the Queensland Under 15s Schools State Titles kicking off Thursday morning at Mike Carney Toyota Park. The team has trained hard over the last few months in preparations for Queenslands toughest Schoolboy Tournament. Spectators can attend and watch the tournament Free of Charge from Thursday until Sunday afternoon. The TDRU would like to wish the team best of luck for the tournament! Zambreros 1st Grade Wrap Up - Round 15

With only 6 rounds left before finals, the weekend saw more great displays of rugby. It was home games for Burdekin, North Ward and Brothers, with no games at Mike Carney Toyota Park. The top of the table Teachers West pack made the journey down to the Burdekin to take on the 3rd ranked Cane Toads, who were looking to snatch a win at home. Brothers took on Ross River at Ignatius Park College, with Ross River looking to pull off a win after their defeat to Teachers West last week. Charters Towers made the trip up to take on North Ward at the Sports Reserve, with both teams looking for a win after defeats last week. 

BROLGAS AND MOZZIES REMATCH CONFIRMED

The CASTROL Senior Brolgas will look to return the favour from the NT Mosquitoes later this year when the side tours to the Top End to face the Mozzies at home. With the Brolgas going undefeated at the North Queensland Country Champs earlier this year the team will be keen to avenge a loss to the Mozzies at home in September 2016. Townsville coach Fran Lando is excited at the prospect of travelling to Darwin "The Brolgas have a strong history of touring over the 50 years of Townsville Rugby and having toured domestically and internationally myself as a Brolgas player I know the playing group will be excited for this tour" Lando said. 

Zambrero's First Grade Wrap up - Round  12

Round 12 of the TDRU Zambrero’s 1st grade competition was one of the most hotly contested in recent memory and all teams battled sides threatening to take each other’s positions on the TDRU ladder. At Warrina Park Teachers West hosted Brothers in a top of the table encounter with both teams only losing a game apiece to each other in the lead up to the weekend, whilst Ross River looked to avenge their loss to Charters Towers in the round previous where the Redskins handed the Bulls their first 1st Grade win since returning to the competition, ahead of Burdekin looking to remain in touch with the top two teams with North Ward standing in the way following their impressive performance against Teachers West the week before.
