Teachers West Win 2016 Holcim 1st Grade Grand Final!

Congratulations to the 2016 1st Grade premiers Teachers West who went Back to Back defeating Burdekin 38 points to 9 in front of a big crowd. Player of the Final went to 1st Grade Co-Captain from Teachers West - Kit Horwood. Well done to both teams on a fantastic game of Rugby and a great season! ‘FESTIVAL OF RUGBY 7s’ ARU Jump on board for Coach Education Rugby 7s night.

The Australian Rugby Union have jumped on Board the Townsville Festival of Rugby 7s movement with ARU Rugby Sevens Talent Coordinator - Hugh Carpenter confirmed to visit Townsville in the days leading up to the Senior leg of the Festival.

Holcim Senior A Grade - Elimination Semi Final

In the penultimate game of the 2016 season, Brothers and Burdekin would clash for the final time this year. In what has been an exciting rivalry throughout the year it was only fitting that the two teams would meet for a spot in the Big Dance. Click read more for full match report.

Holcim Senior A Grade Major and Minor Semi Finals

It was crunch time as Finals began last week. After a long, gruelling season 4 Teams; Teachers West, Burdekin, Brothers and Ross River played off in The Business end of the season. The Major Semi Final, contested by Teachers West and Burdekin would see The winner progress straight to the Grand Final, while The loser would face off against the winner of the minor semi final between Brothers and Ross River. With both games being played at Mike Carney Toyota Park on Saturday and Sunday, it was a jam packed weekend for Townsville Rugby. Click read more for full match reports.

Townsville Rugby 7's now providing pathway to Olympic Stardom.

The ‘Townsville Festival of Rugby 7s’ has been recognised by the Queensland Rugby Union as a crucial talent identification tournament for selectors of the States representative 7s teams. The QRU have confirmed State and National coaches and selectors will be in attendance at the Senior and Teenage Tournaments looking for talent for their Queensland Youth and Senior teams for both Males and Females.

QAS Womens Rugby 7s Head Coach and QRU Rugby Services Manager - Lachlan Parkinson is excited to travel north to check out some of Townsville’s and North Queensland’s best Rugby 7s talent.
