2016 Townsville Rugby 7's Draw Released

With 16 Mens, 6 Womens and 5 Under 20 teams the stage is set for a massive weekend of Rugby 7's. Tournament favourites Island Breeze make a return after missing out last years Tournament, however with a mix of new and experienced teams to shake up the competition it looks to be the most competitive yet. In the Womens, sides have travelled from all over the state to be a part of The Townsville 7's, while The Under 20's division will showcase the best young talent from North Queensland.

Townsville vs Northern Territory Representative Wrap Up.

The Northern Territory (NT) arrived for their two game tour of Townsville on Friday afternoon to face off against a Townsville Team made up of the regions best Under 21 year old’s. This was the first time that Northern Territory has toured Townsville and it was an exciting prospect for both regions, having more games on the Representative Calendar.

A Townsville Under 21 Select team as well as The POWER 100 Senior Brolgas will look to put on a strong showing when Northern Territory travel down to Townsville to play two games this weekend. The Under 21 Team is made up of Townsville Rugby’s rising Stars. With most players representing their respective clubs in First Grade this year the Team is looking promising and will look to knock over their Older, larger opponents.

Mike Carney recognised for over 20 years of support to Townsville Rugby

Last Saturday Mike Carney was presented a framed Townsville Brolgas Jersey as recognition from a sport that his business has supported and sponsored for over 20 years. Over this time, thanks to his help The Townsville and District Rugby Union has grown to be a dominant Sub Union in Queensland and continues to provide for both recreational and representative players.

2016 Holcim Senior A Grade Grand Final

Last Weekend saw Mike Carney Toyota Park host the 2016 Holcim Senior A Grade Grand Final between the Burdekin Canetoads and the Teachers West Bulldogs. It had been a long, arduous 21 weeks of competition leading up to this point but neither team showed signs of fatigue in what was a cracking display of rugby. Teachers West emerged victorious 38 points to Burdekin’s 9 after a hard fought game.
