The Anniversary celebrations have already kicked off with the official launch, held on the 29th of October commemorating the first meeting between The TDRU at Jezzine Barracks. Townsville Rugby continues to thrive and with a host of events planned to mark the occasion it is shaping up to be a fantastic year of festivities. The TDRURA are on the hunt for next generation of Rugby Union Referees for season 2017. Later this week Referee Courses will take place to ensure newcomers to refereeing are highly skilled by the time we hit Round 1 next year. The TDRURA are on the lookout for Juniors, Seniors, Former Players, Parents and Rugby enthusiasts who are interested in keeping fit and healthy and enjoying Rugby from the best seat in the house! A large turnout from the Rugby Community attended the TDRU’s Annual General Meeting this week to culminate a successful year of Rugby and usher in the 50th anniversary year of the TDRU in 2017. The meeting was the first in over 10 years where Life Memberships were awarded much to the endorsement of the attendees. This wasn’t the only Major announcement of the meeting, with a new executive voted in and a current Life Member of the TDRU being acknowledged as accepting the role of Patron of the Townsville and District Rugby Union.

Last Friday saw Mike Carney Toyota park play host the annual Remembrance Day matchup between the Townsville Brolgas and the Army. 3 great matches took place with a women’s, masters and First grade game being competed.
