A Townsville Under 21 Select team as well as The POWER 100 Senior Brolgas will look to put on a strong showing when Northern Territory travel down to Townsville to play two games this weekend. The Under 21 Team is made up of Townsville Rugby’s rising Stars. With most players representing their respective clubs in First Grade this year the Team is looking promising and will look to knock over their Older, larger opponents.
Last Saturday Mike Carney was presented a framed Townsville Brolgas Jersey as recognition from a sport that his business has supported and sponsored for over 20 years. Over this time, thanks to his help The Townsville and District Rugby Union has grown to be a dominant Sub Union in Queensland and continues to provide for both recreational and representative players.
Last Weekend saw Mike Carney Toyota Park host the 2016 Holcim Senior A Grade Grand Final between the Burdekin Canetoads and the Teachers West Bulldogs. It had been a long, arduous 21 weeks of competition leading up to this point but neither team showed signs of fatigue in what was a cracking display of rugby. Teachers West emerged victorious 38 points to Burdekin’s 9 after a hard fought game.
